Software Engineer II- Frontend

The Microsoft Engineering team is looking for a motivated, and creative Software Engineer II- Frontend, with proficient web application development experience to help build the next generation of sports experiences. Responsibilities


  • Work closely with project managers, design team, engineering technical leads, and backend engineers to build a delightful user experience.
  • Own full feature development that includes design, development, testing, release, experimentation, live site readiness.
  • Write clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code while implementing new features and fixing bugs.
  • Understand existing applications, identify areas of improvement, performance bottlenecks, etc. and resolve them.
  • Monitor live system metrics, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Grow with the support of your team and help others grow by providing thoughtful feedback.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to collaborate cross-group and work effectively within the team.
  • Navigate ambiguity and take initiative.
  • Be self-directed and prioritize effectively.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience building modern Web applications with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with modern web tech stacks such as: TypeScript, React, Redux, Webpack, Jest, or GraphQL.


Other Requirements


The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:


  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Preferred Qualifications


  • 4+ years of engineering experience building modern web applications.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience with JavaScript.
  • Experience with web components, custom elements, Shadow DOM etc., or proficient in one mainstream UI frameworks e.g., React.
  • Design and architecture experience for complex front-end applications
  • Experience working in an agile, test-driven software development process.
  • Experience with any of the following engineering areas: scalability, compliance, performance, security, privacy, reliability, accessibility, localization/globalization.
  • Knowledge and experience of browser technologies like web workers, service workers, coaching, local storage, debugging and profiling tools.
  • Experience using customer insights to build a delightful user experience.
  • Demonstrated experience of engineering excellence and quality. Live site first – testing, monitoring, and analyzing user feedback.
  • Experience with C# and full stack software development
  • Experience building REST API
  • Sports domain knowledge


Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $79,600 - CAD $153,000 per year.
