Software Architect (Technical Director)


Overview


ProximaHQ is seeking an experienced and innovative Software Architect/Technical Director to join our team and to support the ongoing growth of our Proxima product. Proxima is a sales tool for realtors and sales agents that delivers the most effective pre-sale buying experience on the market today. Reporting to our CEO, you will be responsible for design choices, technical standards and oversight, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms.


As Technical Director you will lead Proxima’s development team. You will guide technical strategy and technical architecture for our company. You’re passionate and proficient with web and mobile applications. You also have a keen interest and even some hands on experience with XR technologies.


Most importantly, you have hands-on experience delivering products within a multidisciplinary team structure, using Lean or Agile processes. Your dedication to quality shows in your past work and you want to work with people who are equally dedicated to delivering to a high quality bar.

Core responsibilities:


  • Be the go-to tech lead in the company – the one who ‘owns’ the architecture for our product across multiple platforms. From high level planning to long term execution, you ensure our architectural designs and decisions are executable, and align with the big picture.
  • Understand broad industry trends in technology, and can advise our team on current and future strategies
  • Define and implement technical strategies within budget and time constraints
  • Identify and advise on tech risks
  • Lead and mentor the technical team to deliver world class development


Leadership skills:


  • Proven experience with team leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Able to lead code-reviews, set/enforce code standards, define and execute a technology plan
  • Strong communication skills and a strong advocate for collaboration and interdisciplinary problem-solving
  • Able to synthesize and communicate the outcomes of collaborative sessions with team members.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate ideas with clarity and energy
  • Ability to communicate complex issues and solutions to a wide range of audiences

Technical skills and experience:


  • Experience architecting and building from scrappy start-up to large scale projects with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and security
  • Can effectively articulate business and user experience design goals into technical requirements to be acted on by the development team
  • Expert in web technologies and creating highly interactive applications using JavaScript frameworks
  • Expert in server-side development with a focus in one or more languages (C#, PHP, Python, etc...)
  • Experience in delivering products for mobile (native or web apps)
  • Some experience with or familiarity with WebGL and PlayCanvas
  • Experience designing API layers
  • Experience working with distributed teams in multiple time zones.


Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in Canada, located in Greater Vancouver and able to work in our Vancouver office
  • Must have experience leading or being apart of a team that's successfully delivered a product to market
  • Must have min. 2 years experience in software architecture role


Job Type: Full-time


Salary: $120,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
