Senior Quality Engineer

Remote

👋 Hello!

The Klue Engineering Team is maturing and we’re building out our Quality Team.

This is a high impact and growth opportunity for someone who loves to build.

We need someone to support and help us elevate our testing vision. You will develop, test, maintain, build systems, framework and deployment tools. You will represent QA and drive optimal test driven development for our team. Improving the overall level of quality through process and practice improvements throughout every development team will be the focus and highest impact. You will have the opportunity to guide our efforts in manual, automation, continuous deployment, build and configuration management; all while partnering with an industry leading development team.

This is a pivotal role on an already exceptional team.

Although still a startup at heart, Klue is well-funded with fantastic customers who rely on our enterprise-grade software. In short, it’s a bright future that will only get brighter with another exceptional engineer.

- Sarathy (Gsar), CTO

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team!

💡 FAQ

Q: Klue who?

A: Klue is a VC backed, capital-efficient growing SaaS company. Tiger Global and Salesforce Ventures led our US$62m Series B in the fall of 2021. We’re creating the category of competitive enablement: helping companies understand their market and outmaneuver their competition. We benefit from having an experienced leadership team working alongside several hundred risk-taking builders who elevate every day.

We’re one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures by Waterstone HC, a Deloitte Technology Fast 50 & Fast 500 winner, and recipient of both the Startup of the Year and Tech Culture of the Year awards at the Technology Impact Awards.

We’re a highly skilled team of engineers who are building an awesome product and doing it with intention. We value people who take initiative, lead by example, and empower everyone at Klue to participate in delivering quality and valuable product.

Q: What level of experience are we looking for?

A: This is a senior level role. We’re looking for someone with proven depth of experience driving high-value outcomes through a solid quality approach. We will be building out our team to take on more emerging talent over the next year, but are starting by building up a roster of experienced talent which will enable us to set the rest of the team up for success.

Q: What does Quality look like at Klue?

A: We fundamentally believe in embedded QA across our development teams, now and in the future, QA is everyone’s responsibility not a separate unit.

Q: Are you remote-friendly 🤩?

A: YES! Our hub is in Vancouver, BC, but we currently have team members across Canada and other countries - primarily the Netherlands, UK, and Brazil.

Q: What are the skills I would ideally bring?

  • Lead, mentor, enhance, and build the capabilities of our team through quality focused improvements
  • You understand software architectures and how to apply the appropriate testing strategies based on the architecture. You contribute to architectural design decisions and can help drive quality from the very start of a project.
  • Experience in writing end-to-end automated tests with Selenium, Cypress or similar technology
  • Create comprehensive and well-structured and prioritized test plans and test cases
  • You are interested in machine learning and NLP
  • You appreciate a well tested code base
  • You've worked in agile, iterative development, can estimate scope & prioritize
  • Bonus if you've had some startup or early stage experience in the past
  • Bonus if you've had experience with (non)relational databases (ideally *SQL + Elasticsearch + Redis)

Q: What's some of our tech stack?

  • Python (Flask/FastAPI), Ruby (Rails), Playwright, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, Google Cloud, Tensorflow, Keras, Docker/Kubernetes
  • We also experiment with new technologies, languages, and frameworks. We aren't agnostic to languages, rather use what is best to solve the problem we are solving.

Q: What motivates our current team right now?

  • Challenging, stimulating and meaningful work
  • The inspiration from skilled and proven leaders and teammates
  • Having their entrepreneurial fingerprints on what will be a future billion dollar company anchored in Canada
  • Empowering our customers with super-human abilities to find and derive insights from an ocean of unstructured data and helping them convert those insights into actionable intel for the rest of their organizations.
  • Culture, team, and work environment
  • A high degree of autonomy and accountability
  • Open and trustworthy transparency and high quality communication
  • Huge opportunity for growth

Q: What about total compensation & benefits?

  • We gather compensation benchmarking data across BC, Canada, & EU's Tech Industry, and use that data to build a range for our current team and future talent based on skill, capabilities and potential.
  • We pull CDN tech market salary data on a regular basis, and in the QA world roles can vary by team and can be somewhat ambiguous and recognize that candidates also can vary. Given that, if you feel like this role is a great fit and have questions about comp, get in touch and we're happy to discuss further.
  • Time off. Take what you need. We want the team to prioritize wellness and avoid burnout. Vacation usually falls into 3 categories: recharging, life-event, & keeping a work-life balance. Just ensure the required work gets done and clear it with your team in advance. You need to take at least two weeks off every year. The average Klue team member takes 2-4 weeks of PTO per year.
  • Work-life integration: Hybrid work model, flexible working schedules, and a global team.
  • Benefits start on day one!

Lastly, we take potential into consideration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the specifics listed above. If you know you have what it takes, even if that’s different from what we’ve described, be sure to explain why in your application. Reach out and let’s see if there is a home here for you now or in the future.

We’ve made a commitment to support and contribute to a diverse environment; on our teams and in our community. We’re early in our journey; we've started employee led resource groups, committed to Pay Up For Progress, and use success profiles for roles instead of 'years of experience'. We continue to scale our efforts as Klue grows. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and have dedicated that commitment to our current and future #kluecrew. During the interview process, please let us know if there is anything we need to make more accessible or accommodate to support you to be successful.

All interviews will be conducted via video calls. We work in a hybrid model of WFH (remote) and in-office.
