The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Frameworks team at Microsoft develops AI software that enables running AI models everywhere, from the world’s fastest AI supercomputers, to servers, desktops, mobile phones, IoT devices, and internet browsers. We collaborate with hardware teams and partners to build the software stacks for AI across Microsoft. We work directly with OpenAI on the models hosted on the Azure OpenAI service to maximize performance and efficiency. The team operates at the intersection of AI algorithmic innovation, purpose-built AI hardware, systems, and software. We are a cross-disciplinary team of highly capable and motivated people with a collaborative and inclusive culture.



We are looking to hire a Principal Product Manager to join our team. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to build the software stack that enables the latest frontier models on the latest AI accelerator silicon hardware. As a senior technical product leader it requires collaborating with engineers, researchers, finance, marketing, and business development to assess, prioritize, and execute on the most promising opportunities to deliver impact. We’re looking for someone who has a demonstrated history of creatively managing and solving hard technical problems and is passionate about building platforms that optimize performance and cost. An entrepreneurial approach and ability to take initiative and move fast are essential.

Responsibilities


  • Establish a shared vision with cross-functional peers and executives
  • Drive product requirements definition, product planning and product design (including writing specifications) of new features and enhancements
  • Drive product development with a team of world-class engineers and designers
  • Work cross-functionally to bring features live to the service
  • Anticipate, identify, and mitigate blockers to success goals
  • Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of efforts
  • Build and learn quickly in a constantly evolving environment
  • Identify new areas of opportunity for product investment
  • Share actionable insight, learnings, feedback to drive continuous improvements

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in deep learning, machine learning and/or AI.
  • 1+ years experience with GPUs and other AI accelerators.


Preferred Qualifications


  • The proven ability to work well in a matrixed environment and with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work well with and articulate ideas to people: customers, engineers, executives.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems at scale
  • Hands-on use of development tools for AI models and their lifecycle
  • Knowledge of deep learning optimization and acceleration techniques


Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $135,800 - CAD $253,000 per year.
