HRIS Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about HR technology and systems to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, the HRIS Specialist will be a partner to stakeholders from across the organization to help create a people and business driven technology platform. 


Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with and provide a high level of customer service to your colleagues in HR, Payroll and the business to help build and maintain a people technology platform that meets the needs of the organization
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert in HR technology functionality and end-user experience for all areas – HR, Payroll, Learning & Development and Recruitment
  • Primary contact for tier 1 and tier 2 system support; troubleshoot and resolve system problems with reporting, integrations, business processes and other configurations
  • Ensure the effectiveness of system configurations, interdependencies, and data flows. Proactively identifying and resolving any issues
  • Participate in HR technology initiatives by assisting with business requirement gathering, business process review, project management, testing, training, documentation development, communication, and business configuration


Key qualifications include:

  • Minimum 2 years of HRIS experience, supplemented by a certificate or diploma in an IT-related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience working with, supporting, or delivering HRIS and/or payroll systems
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new systems and upgrade skills on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent customer service, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, both technical and non-technical
  • Strong project management, time management, organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills


This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external candidates. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position. 

Vancouver International Airport is a Living Wage employer. This means all Vancouver Airport Authority workers earn at least a living wage. Living Wage for Families B.C. has determined the hourly rate of pay at which a household can meet its basic expenses. The 2022 living wage rate in Metro Vancouver is $20.52.
