Data Analysis and Knowledge Mobilization Officer

$80,652.20 - $91,992.70 annually

 

The Office of the Chief Veterinarian (OCV) provides leadership for animal health policy and programming, One Health and One Welfare in British Columbia. The OCV collaborates with provincial ministries, the federal government, animal owners and veterinary professionals to build resilient animal health systems for British Columbia. OCV staff are also responsible for provincial dairy, apiary, game farm, fur farm and veterinary drug outlet licensing and inspections.


The Data Analysis and Knowledge Mobilization Officer is the expert for a ministry, sector or enterprise for large-scale, complex projects and will provide expert advice to senior staff and lead multiple project teams as well as ongoing operational leadership for cross-government application services.


Qualifications for this role include:

  • Graduate training to a Master or PhD level in bioinformatics/biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, computer science, GIS, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty field as designated by program requirement, and one (1) year related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in bioinformatics/biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, computer science, GIS, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty field as designated by program requirement, and three (3) years related experience; OR
  • Diploma in data science, computer science, GIS, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty field as designated by program requirements, and four (4) years related experience; OR
  • Certification from a recognized institution in a related field and five years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Related experience must include a minimum of two (2) of the following:

  • Experience at leveraging structured and unstructured data sources to conduct quantitative analysis.
  • Experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution assessment, bias, and error.
  • Experience and familiarity with machine learning, clustering, and classification techniques to analyze diverse sources of data.
  • Experience creating and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making.
